Upper Mustang Trekking

Trip Information

Nepal has unlimited mysterious and magnificent places worthy of comparing to the heavenly places. Journey in Nepal is the best vacation destination in terms of the natural and cultural attractions served in a competitive price. Backpacker Treks & Expedition presents this trekking in the forbidden land of Nepal as Upper Mustang Trek.

The Upper Mustang is considered as the land beyond Himalaya as “Himal Pariko Gau” viz. the village behind mountains. This region is well kept secret of Nepal and requires the special permit to get entry to this mysterious land. These days four wheeled Jeep ride to the Upper Mustang is very famous but Backpacker Treks & Expedition would like to recommend our valued guests to trek rather than drive. While embarking to the Upper Mustang if you choose the jeep drive then there is high chance of getting caught in the altitude sickness because of the lack of the acclimatization. While trekking the gradual ascending towards it would be easy for the acclimatization and altitude sickness can be avoided.

This awesome trekking starts from Kathmandu to Jomsom by flight. The flight to the windiest part of Nepal Jomsom would act as the mountain flight experience as we can see the various mountain ranges during the flight. Once you start walking then small river side countryside town like Kagbeni, Chaile, Ghyaling, Syangboche, Tsarang and finally Lo Manthang. This forbidden kingdom is often called as Lo Manthang as in local terms it means the kingdom surrounded by walls. The artistic houses of the Buddhist & Tibetan origin people would also be the highlight of the trekking. The land lies in the border of Tibet China in the north eastern side. Travellers tour or trek in this region at the month of April because in this time of the year Upper Mustang celebrates the Tiji Festival. The festival is symbolized as the victory of good against the evil.

The deepest gorge of Kaligandaki and the mystic holes in the hills have been featured in the international media too as the most mysterious places of the earth. National Geography Channel has featured documentary about these mystic ancient holes, Kaligandaki gorge, Tiji Festival and unique last rituals of the people of Upper Mustang region. If you are lucky enough then the last rites of the people dead in the region is also worth observing. People of the Upper Mustang believe that the flesh of the dead people served to the vultures would release the soul of those departed.

Come and Join this once in a lifetime opportunity to trek in the Upper Mustang Trekking. Backpacker Treks & Expedition ensures the impeccable hospitality and great service while taking you to this mystic land of Nepal.

Medical kit is of immense help and importance during long tours and trek as you never know what will happen next, even regarding the health of the trekkers. Problems of high altitude sickness, shortness of breathing, dizziness, etc. are the ones frequently encountered during the trek. Presence of medical kit helps to resolve any of such problems and provides immediate relief and medical attention to the person who is in need for the same.
